Dr David Carmody - Foot and Ankle

Dr Carmody’s main interest is sports injuries of the foot and ankle. His fellowship training had an emphasis on foot and ankle surgery in the athlete. His particular expertise is in arthroscopic procedures, and surgery for instability, tendon conditions and cartilage problems, including arthritis. He also specialises in fracture management of the foot and ankle.
He has published research in numerous peer-reviewed journals, and had papers presented at meetings throughout Australia and abroad. His research into spinal cord injuries in Australian footballers was rewarded with the “Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Applied Research in Sports medicine by a Research team” at the 2005 NSW Sports Safety Scheme Awards.
Dr Carmody has a keen interest in many sports. He follows all the football codes, and continues to play cricket, soccer and golf.
Apart from being proudly affiliated with Sydney Sportsmed Specialists in Macquarie St,Dr Carmody has consulting rooms at Chatswood, Dee Why and the Mater Clinic, North Sydney. He also consults at Narrabeen Sports Medicine Centre, at the Sydney Academy of Sport. He has admitting rights and operates from the Mater Hospital, North Sydney, Castlecrag Private, North Shore Private and Delmar Private Hospitals. He has a public hospital appointment at Mona Vale Hospital.
